Try placing a call to a Facebook friend or phone number from
calling.bobsled.com. If your call goes through, Bobsled is fully installed and functioning. Otherwise, you'll need to download and install some free voice software.
To provide you with the absolute best voice quality, Bobsled needs you to install our voice services package on your computer. This software is absolutely free and runs in the background. It lets your computer connect to the Bobsled voice servers and then to your friends.
In Firefox and Safari, Bobsled inserts a button next to the URL bar that lets you access the talk window with one click.
In IE, this button is hidden by default. To unhide the button go to View --> Toolbars --> and select "Command bar". When you click the button, it will take you to calling.bobsled.com.
In Chrome, you will need to download the toolbar button separately. Visit calling.bobsled.com on your Chrome browser and click on the "Quick Launch" download button to add the button to your toolbar.
Click the pop out button in the top right corner of the Bobsled talk window. The talk window will pop out and become its own window that you can use to talk and chat while you surf.
To place a call, visit the application page at
calling.bobsled.com. Use the Bobsled talk window on the right side of the screen to select a friend and click on the Call button on the next screen. The person you call will receive a Facebook chat message from you with a link. When they click on the link, your call will be connected. Your friend does not need to have Bobsled installed to answer the call, but must accept Flash permissions.
Click the Answer button on the dialogue box that appears in the talk window.
If you are on Facebook, simply click on the link that appears in your chat window.
If you can hear ringing but do not see the dialog, check other tabs or browser windows that you have open to find the talk window.

For the best possible quality, headphones are strongly recommended for you and the person you are speaking to.
To test your speaker and microphone, click "Audio Setup" and walk through the setup guide, selecting the proper microphone, clicking record and replay to hear how you sound.
Usually the person you called either has the speakers muted or your microphone is not properly configured. Verify that you have a working microphone and that it has been correctly selected using the audio setup link in chat.
You can then test if it is correct by clicking the red record button, talking into your microphone, and then playing it back when the red record button switches to the green play button.
This usually happens if your friend's microphone is not configured properly or your speakers are muted. Verify that your speakers or headphones are plugged into the right connections and working correctly using the audio setup link in chat. Ask your friend to check their microphone setup using the audio setup link in chat.
In order for you to call your friend, they should be logged into Facebook and be visible to you on chat.
However, you can leave a voice message for any of your friends, whether they are available in Facebook chat or not. Go to the calling.bobsled.com, select a friend from the list, click on the "Call" button, and select "Voice Message" from the drop down options. Follow the prompts to record the message. Once finished, post to a friend's wall or send as a private message.
There are many reasons why your friend may not answer. To answer a call they need to be available for a call, aware of the call request and click to accept the call. You can find out your friend's availability by using Facebook chat to text message your friend prior to starting a voice chat. If your friend is available and attempting to answer, they must accept the inbound call request, grant the Facebook permissions, and their computer must meet the system requirements listed in Does Bobsled work on my machine and browser?
Yes! Open up a new tab in your browser to keep the call connected.
